Last week I was preop-up until Friday. So now I'm stuck out of the weight room for 4 weeks (maybe more due to the sore golf ball-hematoma-sitting on my abdomen.

Sigh...I guess we were able to wait for the surgery!

I echo calling the doc - are you peeing regularly?  You're probably fine, but the doc should know.

If you are still retaining water it could be an indication that you are actually dehydrated. The only way to get the water weight off is oddly to drink more water. My guess is that you have a lot of swelling and maybe some bruising still?

Huge bruises and abdominal muscle tearing with hematomas-will that do it?

Im getting in 70 ounces day 4 and 5. Was harder to get on days 2 and 3.

Significant swelling in legs and feet-leading to cellulitis in feet.

So, yes, those could be it-but 25 pounds? Esp for it to still be 25 pounds after a week of eating 0-300 cal.

Ok-I need to stop obsessing.

Yes stop obsessing I promise it will come off. Yes bruising and hematomas will certainly cause that. Make sure you are walking as much as you can. Keep it up with the water. Remember water is very heavy, 1 gallon weighs about 8lbs so its not hard to see the scale shoot up dramatically with water weight, even just a little bit of water. The walking will help with the swelling in your legs and feet but swelling is water retention so if you are swelling that is part of it. Also right now your body is in a total healing mode so its not going to throw any weight that it doesn't absolutely have to.

Are you home now?  I know every time I went into the hospital I gained water weight while I was on IV and then it would take about 3-4 days to start coming off once I was home. If you are still in then I wouldn't even expect it to come off until they take the IV off.

You might however contact your doctor and tell him.  He can prescribe a water pill.  If you aren't seeing the effects of water retention in your legs and stuff he might think it's something else.  25lbs of water weight seems a lot to me...but that's just me.

No sodium broth. That's it. It took off all the water weight in a week. It tastes vile, but add some sriracha or a bit of cayenne and fake it until you make it!

I'm dealing with a cold right now and had my usual lower sodium Better than Bouillon. Jumped on the scale this morning, up 1.5 lbs. I know it's water weight but the point is, that even lower sodium retained water with me, so No Sodium is a tried and true clear fluid that will help with water weight

Hmm. I don't drink broth, but I will check the sodium in my Powerade zeros and maybe switch out some for plain water.
