Am I eating too much?

I'm three weeks post op and started eating more solid/soft foods according to my plan a couple of days ago. I feel like I am able to eat more than I should be at this stage. I know this journey varies from person to person but I can't help comparing myself to others who are at this same stage.  I can eat more than they can and that scares me. I am tracking my food intake, but I'm just worried. Does anyone else feel like that? I just want to make sure this works and that I didn't go through the surgery for nothing.

How much are you eating?  I weigh all my meals to ensure I don't try to eat too much.

I try to measure everything too. I usually have a protein shake divided in two servings throughout the day. Then I try to have something every couple of hours. I'm going by the serving size that is recommended by my surgeon. I usually do not feel full afterwards. I can also eat fast, which is bothersome. I am trying to eat slowly. I also avoid drinking fluids thirty minutes before during and 30 mins after my meal. I also feel hunger! I know some people never feel hunger again, and some do. I guess I just wasn't expecting to feel hunger this soon post op. Yesterday I almost ate 1000 calories! That seems a bit much since I'm supposed to in the 600-800 range. I just hope my sleeve isn't too big or something!

What is the serving size that your surgeon recommends?  Mine recommends 4-8 ounces, and I'm eating 2-3 ounces.  So surgeon recommendations aren't always accurate..

Regarding the hunger - you're only three weeks out and your stomach is still healing from major surgery.  You can't trust whatever signals you think it's telling you, which is why measuring is so important now.

Are you taking a PPI such as Nexium or Prilosec?

Reading your post was like I was writing it. I was sleeved on June 12th so just one day after you. I am experiencing the exact same thing. Also I have not lost any weight in three weeks. Lost 12lbs the first 11days and actually about 2lbs since. I am beginning to think the surgery didn't work. I am sticking to my plan but it is not easy since I feel like it is not working. This morning I broke down in tears since another day is here and the scale still has not moved. Starting soft food today so we will see what happens!!

I hope things get better for you soon. Hang in there!

I'm 4 days out, so I haven't eaten!  LOL  But I sip, sip, sip!  I have a friend that is about 2 months out. She can basically eat 2 to 3 bites and that's it. Is that the norm?

Depends on the size of the bites.  At that point I was eating 2 ounces of dense protein and a bite or two of veggies.  (Which is what I still do at 3.5 months.)
