having a hard time getting it all in...
I'm 1 week out and I have been very dizzy. The nurse thinks I am not getting enough protein and I'm sure she is probably right. However, I'm so very, very full that it is really hard to get it all in. If I drink 1 oz every 15 minutes for 16 hours I'll get it all in. But after a few hours of doing that I'm completely miserable! I'm so very full that it hurts. I don't know what to do.
What protein shake are you drinking? How many of them do you have to drink to meet your goal? You might want to make something that has more protein per ounce.

I'm still on clear liquids and I live in the middle of nowhere so right now my only option is the Healthwise fruit drink that I bought from my surgeon's clinic. It was good initially but now is just sickeningly sweet. There is only 15 grams. Today i mixed 2 and a scoop of protein powder for a total of 40 grams. Tomorrow I start full liquids and I have 2 premier protein shakes from a friend. I ordered them from Amazon and they should be here Wednesday afternoon. I'm open to any suggestions. Everything seems pretty expensive on Amazon. :-(
I find Amazon prices to be comparable or cheaper to prices at brick and mortar stores. You might check out Nashua Nutrition since you can order samples of protein shakes for 1.99/serving. It's a good way to try things out.

I had my surgery on the 30th. I know that if I have 4 protein shakes a day I'll meet my protein goal (optimum nutrition 100% whey available at gnc and vitacost.com) I pour myself 2oz at a time and take small sips. In between shakes I am constantly sipping crystal light and water. I know it's tough but I found that pacing myself and avoiding big gulps helps me to not feel overly full and I'm able to get in my protein and water goals.
