He dumped me

I really thought we had a healthy relationship. We've been together five years, and he's been supportive of me through thick and thin (literally and figuratively). HE was the one who always insisted we talk things out and communicate. One week ago he announced he was 'unhappy' and moving in with a friend until I can move out of the house (it's his). I thought he'd come to his senses in a few days, but it's been a week and 'I'm just not happy' is as much of an explanation as I can get.

I understand this happens a lot to WLS patients?  I'm confused, hurt, disillusioned.... I know I'll be OK eventually, just hurting while I go through it. Thanks for letting me share.

I am so sorry that you are going through this right now!  Be strong and everything happens for a reason.  God close one door just to open a bigger one for you!

My heart goes out to you - this must be just awful!  I wish I had some experience or insight for you but I don't.  Just wanted you to know that you're in my thoughts.  One of my "mantras" in life is that "things always work out for the best" - it may not be what you want initially or expect, but somehow something good will come out of this.  Stay strong!!

Thank you - my sister just called and said "Everything happens for a reason." And I replied "Yes, and sometimes the reason is you're stupid and make bad choices." Laughter is the best medicine. Up to me to make the best out of this - thank you!

I am guessing insecure and cannot handle the new, hotter you.  But hey, I'm a guy, what do I know?

Actually, I agree... and not just because it is an original funny statement. My hubby and I are super close, and brought even closer post vsg.  Then I had plastics, which vastly improved my appearance.  He completely flipped out on me.  After about 2 weeks he finally admitted that I look younger, healthier, more vibrant, and sexier... in the mean time he was still overweight, but still with shrinkles due to his 100 pound weight loss and just in general feeling terribly vulnerable.  He convinced himself that of course I would leave him, because why wouldn't I?  Completely illogical- we have never flirted with divorce, went to high school together, and happily married for almost 24 years now. But dang was it tough for him to wrap his brain around my new improved physical self.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I wish I had a simple answer of how to fix it, but I can at least send good karma your way. Take good care of yourself-
