Low B-12 and Low Blood Sugar
I have been having the jitters for a about 2 months. Out of no where my blood sugar drops (shaky, sweating, rapid heat beat etc) that goes away about 15 mins after I eat.
I saw my regular doctor and got blood work completed. my b-12 level is .09 He this that my reactive hypoglycemia is linked to my b-12 levels being dismal. He recommended monthly shot (I had the first one on Friday). I am NOT a diabetic my A1c level is 5.
I have been feeling crappy for months. The initial assumption was that I may be menopausal. God knows if you are a 46 year old woman who is sweating with rapid heart beat, headaches etc...you must be menopausal. BTW my doctor tested my FSH levels and I am no where near menopausal LMAO
How long before I start seeing the benefits of the B-12 shots? Anyone else have fluctuating blood sugar levels?
Thanks in advance
Fay
Wow, yes I get that myself and didn't realize it was from low B12. I admit I have slacked off taking the B12. Coincidentally, I moved the bottle to the bathroom (where I take my antacid in the am) hoping it would remind me to take that as well. Thanks for the post! I'll see if my being more diligent with the B12 improves my jitters.

I would see an endocrinologist, they are specialists in this area. A1C is a measure of your average blood sugar level over the past 90 days or so. So you can have a very good A1C, as you do, but still have very bad blood sugar problems.
Person A can have a constant blood sugar of 100, while person B can have a blood sugar of 250 for an hour, then 50 for a few hours, and so on. And they both can have the exact same A1C. It's an average. Person A is healthy, person B is not.
I have no idea if this is your problem or not. But an endocrinologist can find out.

I agree with Grimm, I have a normal A1C now (post op) but I have to eat something every 3 hours to maintain that. Otherwise my sugar drops to low.
I have my main breakfast, lunch and dinner, but in between I will include, a wedge of cheese, a handful of almonds, half of a container of yogurt or cottage cheese. nothing big or super filling, just enough to keep my sugar regulated.
I can do this and still keep my calorie and carb count under control.
I did talk to my Dr before doing anything and this has worked for me.
Please continue to keep your Dr up to date!! Best Wishes!!!
