Dehydration months after surgery and hair loss
Two weeks ago my wonderful son passed away unexpectedly. Needless to say, I am having a hard time with many life tasks, one of them being drinking my water. I had no problems with dehydration post-surgery but have ended up in the ER for fluids twice in the past two weeks. I believe the dry environment of two cross-country flights in 48 hours and shock contributed to the first visit and the second was due to just reduced water intake over a period of more than a week.
I also stopped taking my vitamins due to a bunch of business travel and this event which seems to have resulted in my hair loss beginning. I understand stress causes hair loss as well. Up till now, I had almost felt like my hair was growing better than it had been for quite some time and decided it must be the upped protein intake giving me that benefit. For the past week I have to clean my hairbrush out midway and after through my morning brushing; during the day if I touch my hair I always come away with at least three strands in my hand but the amount in the brush in the morning is just shocking.
So drink your water and take your vitamins because I've learned that even if you're months out from surgery and doing well you can still develop these problems.
