I have seen the nutrionist monthlty for the past six months and I just has my pre-op instructions. My nutrionist has never brought up gum and there was nothing about it in my instruction class or booklet about gum. I was going thru some old posts on this website and I saw where a member said we weren't allowed gum. Who has infor for me?? :)

Same with using a straw- I get a yes and a no. I chew gum occasionally but it does make me do little burps in the beginning. I use a sraw in my 75oz jug I drink daily. Im alive!

Wow. I totally forgot about not using a straw. I drink my iced coffee with one and I also have survived. I chew gum on occasion and I'm sure is fine.

My information packet said no to gum.  Forever.  But that's my office, my surgeon, my plan.  Best thing would be to ask the medical personnel you trusted to do your surgery.

My surgeon says it makes you hungry. But that is my plan and my surgeon, my diet.

No Gum Post Op for me either. Now I'm using it Pre Op to keep my mouth busy to keep on plan with liquids and not to smoke.

I chew gum , but it best to wait till your sleeve is healed and has a little more room in it

I chew gum everyday.  It helps me make it from one meal to the next without snacking.  I get it in all flavors so I feel like I'm having dessert!
