4 months post-op, 90 lbs down (pics)
Hi everyone! I read this type of post all the time, and love them, so I figured at this point I could do one myself. I had my VSG on July 25. I'm down 90 lbs and am aiming for 100 lbs by my six-month check-up!
I'm really happy with the surgery and my changing life. Some things I've had to learn:
-Amazingly enough, I ~am~ an emotional eater! I always swore I wasn't, right up until I had my first terrible day post-op and had a mini freak out when I realized I couldn't eat a big, comfort-food-filled dinner to make me feel better. I've had to find different ways to de-stress.
-I eat too fast. Cutting up my food ahead of time into very small bites helps with this.
-I tend to want to eat those last few bites. It's not a 'clean your plate' thing, it's more of a 'there's not enough left to save, so I might as well eat it' thing. I've had a hard time learning that even 2-3 extra bites can make me feel very sick. You'd think once would be enough, but I'm apparently quite stubborn, lol.
-I work 3-4 nights a week and get home at 9:30-10:00 pm. When I started this journey, I'd have dinner at that point. I'd usually be starving and eat too much, too fast. Now I eat a small dinner beforehand and have a protein shake when I get home. Much easier on the stomach (and the scale!).
I still have a lot to learn and am by no means any kind of expert on VSG living. But I'm losing weight and I'm happy with my progress, so I feel like I'm in a good place!
Pics are comparison from post-op (315 lbs) and today (243 lbs). I only have crappy candid shots at my highest weight, so I figured these would be better as progress pics. My shirt and jeans in the 315 pics are a size 24. In the current pic, my shirt is an 18-20 and my jeans are an 18. Yay!

Thank you! Yes, keeping things under control when stressed (and, for me, tired too) is a challenge.
