How many calories do you eat in a typical day?

Hi there fellow sleevers!

I had my surgery January 21 and had to do a 3 week liquid diet prior. I lost 20lbs on that! Since surgery, i've lost an additional 15 making my total 35lbs since January 1.

I've been journaling everythign I put in my mouth and I'm averaging 700-1000 daily calories. I feel like that is a lot compared to what I hear from others consuming? My weight has been the same for the last 2.5 weeks - literally bouncing up and down the same 2 or 3 pounds. Its frustrating!! Am I doing something wrong? Too many calories? Why is the scale not moving?

How many calories do you eat a day? Please also include how far out you are :)

We were told for the weight loss phase 600-800 calories a day.  Keep the carbs low, 40 grams or below, at least 60 grams of protein per day.

I eat that about the same amount but I have been in the maintenance stage since August. I say make an appointment with your NUT so he/she can put you on the right plan for you since everyone needs an individual  tweek here and there. I hope that helps.

I eat between 1200-1300 cals per day now and am still losing slowly. Immediately after surgery I was at about 700 cals per day but my focus was about getting in all my protein and water. I added about 50-100 cals per month after 4 months out.  Still, today I aim for higher protein and lower carbs during the day.

Three week liquid diet prior to surgery?!?! Brutal! Good for you for sticking to it! We have the exact same surgery date and I am consuming anywhere from 400-600 calories a day.I don't really know how that compares to others, but I've read that once you are back to 'normal' eating again, you should aim for 1000-1200 calories a day.

Since my pre-op diet (not as strict as yours) I have lost 40lbs, 8 before surgery, 32 after. But, just like you, the past two weeks the scale hasn't moved a whole lot. I was just reading on here that a stall a few weeks after surgery is totally normal and to be expected. So I guess we keep plugging along and wait it out! Good luck to you!

Thanks! My average calories is about 800, but I have gone up to 1000 a time or two! I'm not really concerned, but more wondering where everyone else is at.

I am meeting with my NUT tomorrow for my 4 week follow up - it'll be interesting to see what she says!

Good for you, 40lbs is amazing!!!!! And yay, surgery sisters! :D

Before I progressed to normal foods (five weeks out), I was eating between 600-800 calories a day.

Now I try to keep it around 800.  Some days it's higher, and the weekends are tough.

You're probably experiencing the infamous three week stall.  Click on the magnifying glass and type in "three week stall."  Your body is adjusting to the reduced caloric intake and will sometimes stick on a number on the scale.  Don't fret.  You're probably losing inches.

I would consider lowering your calories and try to max out at 800 so early out of surgery.  What are you eating on a daily basis?

A typical day is around 800 cals, but I have gone up to 1000 a time or two in the last week. I journal everything, and just looked back 4 days ago my calories were at 750 and before that, 550, 800, 730 ... the weekend is where I seem to go crazy!

I have an appt with my NUT tomorrow, so it will be interesting to hear what she says.

A typical day is something like this:

B- Greek Yogurt (1/4 cup) mixed with PB2
S - Banana and honey
L - 1 egg with cheese
S - Cheese String or Cottage Cheese
D - Meat of some sort - Chicken, roast beef or Tuna, maybe 1.5 - 2oz with veggies.

Occasionally I will have a rice cake - eek!

Right off, I'd nix the banana and honey.  Both are pure sugar/carbs and won't benefit you.  How much liquid are you getting each day?

Good to know! I love my banana, but could definitely get rid of the honey with no issues.

I am drinking about 55oz of water a day.
