First day of soft food stage...Bad Experience.

Yesterday was my first day of soft foods. Breakfast, lunch and dinner went pretty uneventful until around 8:30 pm. It began with severe pain in my stomach it continued for 2 hours at which I called my doctor and he told me I was having spasms. He instructed me to lay down try to relax...which I did and then it happened. I vomitted...all the pain went away. Has this happened to anyone and what do you suggest? I'm a bit scared to eat...btw I did chew my food and ate slowly.

Oh no! How upsetting.

What was on the menu? Would maybe trying only one new food per day be an easier path?

I followed the menu that the nutrionist gave to me...I scrambled egg, 1/2 cup cottage cheese & 3 slices of pear sugar free, 2 oz. Tilapia and 1/4 cup green beans.

I thought so too...today I am going to back off and ease myself into the soft foods.

I was eating 2-3 ounces of soft protein. Eggs can also be challenging for people so early out.

I could not eat half of that when I first started on soft food.

Wow, that is alot of food for just starting off on soft foods. I couldn't eat scrambled eggs until around 6 weeks, it made me sick to my stomach. I did ok with just egg whites. I think you should hold off on the pears for right now. Remember this is the 'soft' food stage. I did ok with cottage cheese, refried beans with cheese and tuna. Good luck and take it slow to see what will work or not.

Everyone is different. Maybe soft foods all day were a bit too much for you. Perhaps if you back off a little and make your soft foods sloppier or have a meal or two that is full liquid it might help.

I believe you may be right. I started too fast...based on what the nutrionist gave me as a menu. Today I am backing off some..thanks.
