Does anyone eat pork skins (rinds) as a snack? I see they have 0g carbs, less than 1g of sugars, and 9g of protein.

I was told not to eat fried foods, because my stomach may not tolerate it, so I don't.

I never have, but some folks that I respect on OH have, and they've been very successful.

Check the calories. Too. In the end, too many calories means weight gain or stall, no matter where the calories come from.

I do eat them as a snack. They have less calories than cheese - that most people eat...

I typically can eat 1- to 1.5 oz.. even 7 years postop..they don't seam dense - but they are IMO.. I learned to buy small bags. Bigger bags - just go stale on me...

But - when I want something crunchy - this is my "to go" snack. They are also my "on the road again" snacks..In my area they are available in most convenience stores..

They don't taste good enough tome to eat them often - but they are always in my desk or my cupboards at home when the craving****

When I did Atkins years ago I used to eat them with taco meat for that crunch I would miss.

Thank you for your feedback! I have been eating them and had good results as far as my weight. I live in the South and we can buy them everywhere . They are also my crunchy go to snack. You mention that you were 7 postop, what was your highest weight and what is your weight now? I am 4 mts. postop and have lost 54 lbs.

my highest was 255; lowest 142.. maintenance for me 165;(size 8-10)

current weight - 167.. so I am careful what i eat...but pork rinds are OK for me while i am losing. When I gain some weight I need to limit my carbs and stay away from my wine..

BTW: I stay away from the barbeque pork rinds - too much sugar for me. But the salt and vinegar are my fav.

I used them also to make "breading" when I want to make "breaded" baked chicken strips.. (I mix 1:1 crushed pork skins with coconut flour, ) Don't forget the spices.. . Egg wash allow the breading stick.. Some use a bit of parmesan cheese - but I am allergic to cheese...

They were the "go to" snack back in Atkins days. If you like them, go ahead and eat them.

I have tried them since surgery, and find them to be much, much TOO filling. Even one ounce and I'm uncomfortably full, and since I go to great lengths to avoid my full feeling I won't eat them again. Not worth it, they don't really taste all that great to me anyways.
