This morning I woke up to the scale saying 199.8!! I am so excited to finally be below 200. It has been over 20 yrs that I have been over 200. I am 5'2" and just turned 59 on November 3. I really wanted this as a birthday present but I am okay with it taking a little longer. I feel great and my diabetes is in remission. I feel truly blessed for having the opportunity to get my new tool and begin a new life. My husband and I did the surgery on the same day. He hit onederland a few weeks ago. He has lost 90 lbs. We are looking forward to a long happy and healthy retirement with our new permanent change to our lifestyle. This truly is the best thing I have ever done.

Congratulations.  I'm so happy for you.

My birthday was Nov. 4th, and I just turned 68 - ugh!  I had my surgery at 64, so I had it later in life, too.

Its wonderful that you and your hubby are doing this together.  You can support each other in this.

best wishes.  I wish you every success!

Carol

How long did it take for your diabetes to go into remission? Were you on insulin?

I was diagnosed with diabetes last September. My doctor sent me to a 10 series class on eating and I was maintaining with diet but it was moving higher and higher. I was not on medication since I started the WLS process in February with my doctor's blessing. Two days after surgery my blood tests were within normal range. My A1C from October was 5.2. I have watched my sister fight with this for years and didn't want to end up the same and that was my biggest reasons for doing the surgery.
