Happy New Year!

Jan 02, 2013

We have arrived to 2013!  It has been 7 months since I had my surgery and all is well.  I am acclamating to solid food well and have arrived at a size 10 (in some clothes).  I hate my legs.  They are still large, and not showing any signs of slimming down. I would love to be able to buy boots that go to the knee, but it just isn't in the cards.  Destined to have big calves I guess.  I haven't seen any of my friends, who have had surgery, to compare. I have avoided support groups, and trying to adjust without having to write down every little thing.  My wish for 2013 is to reach goal by my one year mark on May 23rd.  My hair is very thin, and my husband wants me to wear my wigs whenever we go out. I know he is embarrassed by the hair but seems satisfied with the weight loss.  I just wish he would quit asking how much more weight I have lost.  He expects too much.  I have been spending my time quilting. I am now sorry I gave away all my fabric, prior to surgery, because I didn't feel I would be doing any quilting.  Don't have a lot of money to spend on fabric now.  Oh well I will adjust.  Went to Disneyland before Christmas and it was great to get on rides without having to worry about the safety bar not locking into place.  It was much more comfortable.  It was very crowded, but I expected crowds.  I love the Christmas atmosphere at Disneyland (we have season passes this year).  We visited the Dominican Republic for two weeks in November.  It was nice even though it was necessary to stay on the resort the whole two weeks.  They recommend you not go wandering around without a tour group as it is not considered safe.  They have a lot of all-inclusive trips you can book through Cheap Caribbean.  Doesn't cost too much, and all your food, liquor and drinks are included.  They offer some pretty reasonable vacations occasionally, and they are a group you can trust.  I did take a side tour once and had a great time.  Got to see a lot of the area and met some great people.  Most of the resorts have activities and entertainment to keep you occupied.  We enjoyed ourselves.  This was our fourth time visiting there.  Well, a very Happy New Year to everyone and best wishes for successful weightloss in 2013.

Progress

Nov 02, 2012

On October 23rd I had my five month checkup.  I have lost 57.7 pounds and have 27 more pounds to go to reach doctors goal for me.  I can hardly believe five months have gone by since surgery. I have went from a size 20 to a size 12.  I am so glad I did this.  I just wish I would have been aware of surgery options sooner.  They increased my vitamin A 10,000 units.  My nails became soft and all of them cracked off over night.  They are broken off right into the quick of my fingers.  I got me some " Hair, Skin and Nails" pills at Costco to help rebuild the nails.  Our vitamins are so important.  My knees no longer crack and pop, and my hip no longer hurts from walking.  There are plus' and minus' to every decision. Following your doctors orders is what everyone must do.  I would be happier if my legs and thighs had lost a lot more weight.  They are still too big.  I do have 27 more pounds to go.  Maybe more will drop off.  I wish great success for everyone trying weight loss surgery as their tool to a healthier life.
