St. Bernardine Medical Center

"The care received after surgery was minimal. I was hooked up to an IV and had massagers on my legs, finding it difficult to get to the bathroom. I couldn't bend well to remove the massagers, much less drag the IV to the bathroom. It took too long to get the nurse to answer my buzzer, and I had to drag the IV as far as it would stretch to make it to the toilet. Several times it took too long and I urinated all over my bed, the floor and myself trying to get to the toilet. Then I had to listen to the staff talk about me, as I was located across from the nurses station. The shower had no hot water and every single connection sprayed water in every direction. It was difficult to towel myself off since I couldn't bend well where the hernia incision was located. The nurse came as I was trying to put on a clean gown over a wet body. I did notice that when I had a family member with me I got more attention. My stay was a nightmare."

Philip Chin

"I found Dr Chin very personable, and patient. He endeavored to be thorough, and answer all my questions. I found him warm and caring with a wonderful bedside manner and, I feel he is quite competent. He not only visited me before going into the operating room, but his anestiesiologist also came and put me at ease. When I was wheeled to my room he was there too. I could not have asked for better care. If there is anything negative it would have to be I was kept waiting at my followup appointment in the exam room so long I almost fell to sleep. "
