best place to get protein drinks

You've probably heard your tastes will change after surgery, so don't buy a big tub of any one protein powder. Here is a list of sites that offer protein samples at great prices. I ordered from several of these sites before surgery and I've been working my way through the samples.

The variety has made it easier to get my protein in, because I'm always excited to try the next flavor. And tastes are definitely different... a lot of people swear by the Nectar Syntrax but I can't stand them. Plus if not for the sample packs I wouldn't have discovered that early on the high protein hot chocolate was the easiest for me to get down.

You will probably have 3 protein drinks per day in the first month, so it's not unreasonable to buy quite a few of these. Definitely get the Nectars and the Chike samples because they are practically free, the Netrition pack has a great variety, and Unjury is very popular.

protein advice from SouthernLynn

Jul 29, 2009

Everyone loses at a different rate.  TAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS....this will get you through the stall period.  No one believes I lost 90 inches but taking my measurements weekly helped me more than you can imagine.  GET YOUR PROTEIN IN....I have started ordering AchievOne and this week the best price per case is located at
http://www.ibariatric.com/AchievONE_s25.htm.  But you can order different flavors individually-as many as you want so you can try them without buying a case this is the link for that http://www.bjsbariatrics.com/achievone.  Also try some hot chocolate from Nashua Nutrition and mix it with hot water and it is great! Here is the link for that  http://www.nashuanutrition.com/store/index.php?target=produc ts&product_id=53.  But you must get in your protein and water so that you body will work with your sleeve.

BrandiDaryl pureed people chicken recipe

Jul 28, 2009

6 oz of salad/fajita strip chicken... Try to get a good quality. I used Oscar Meyer.

3 heaping table spoons of non fat plain yogurt....

Italian Dressing Mix packet to taste... I think I used to much of mine.. it was probably a full table spoon.. but it was the Zesty Italian.. so much has a little kick to it...

5-10 little cubes of cucumber

5-10 little blades of red onions (My cucumber and onion came precut from the grocery store... like 2 cups of it for $2.. I'll be using it the rest of the week)

Small, half handfull of fat free feta cheese...

Throw it all in the food processor... and pulse...

Such a good, italiany flavor... very satisfying..

The amount of pulsing needed is contingent on your food stage I think.. I had to pulse to where it was literally  a mush.. but I could still taste individual ingredients.. I imagine if you're a little further out you can make it chunkier.. and it's still good...

For those maintaining... you could probably put it in a flatout wrap.. or lettuce wrap...

Enjoy!

Something to Remeber

May 31, 2009

found on jefflaura's blog
Pancake recipe from Oxygen Magazine.

4 egg whites
1T favorite nut butter (I use almond)
1T Honey (they use stevia in the magazine recipe)
1t cinnamon
1/3 C old fashioned oats

Blend all together and pour into a large frying pan (preheated on medium/ medium low and sprayed with olive oil)  Cook until edges look ready and flip.  Flipping is tricky and can be messy.

This baby is 2 servings ( well maybe 3-4 for us)  Any way the entire thing is 268 calories and 17g protein so I munch on it for an entire morning.  It is good cold also so it is easily portable!

Consult with Dr Winterstein May 26

May 27, 2009

Yesterday, I had my consult with my surgeon (Dr Winterstein). Discussed the sleeve, expectations & insurance. He told me not to lose any weight since my BMI is close to insurance rejection. Isn't that a hoot.   Here I am meeting with a NUT until October 7, to meet insurance requirements and I'm told to maintain my weight. I'm scared now that I have "permission" to be this weight; I'll start losing weight and insurance will deny WLS.
