I actually was an average weight throughout my childhood. I began to pick up weight when I was 13 years old. I was on average, a size 12 to 16 through my teen years. In the African American community this wasn't a bad thing. I was what was known as a "thick girl". Because of this I never had a problem with my size. But, in my early 20's after already having 3 children my weight began to go up after each pregnancy instead of back to pre-pregnancy weight. Not to mention the emotional eating habit I had.
Finally, at one of my doctor's visits I was shocked, when he advised me I was considered obese. What, I can understand overweight, but how dare he use the words "obese"? Well, that was over 19yrs ago and I have now catapulted into that horrifying category of "morbidly obese".
After years of the T factor diets, Weight Watcher's, Dr. Atkins, and Phen-Fen to name a few, I've decided to have the gastric bypass to once and for all be done with being "thick",lol.
I completed my 6 month waiting period & program and just waiting now for surgery day. I was born into this world 44 yrs. ago, born again in Christ over 31 yrs. I never thought I'd have any other births to celebrate, but on June 9, 2009, I'll be given yet another New Beginning!
