Possible new forum/group

Would anyone be interested in a forum called "positive support" or "safe zone".   It could be by invitation only or a new public forum open only to people who agree to certain terms of respect and kindness.

Only group can be set up like that. Make it private, by invitation only.

I agree with Hala - you'd need to create a group and make it private/invitation only.  I'm sure OH support could help you set that up.

We already provided the information to you to start your own OH Group.  If you would like to create a private OH Group, we encourage you to do so.

After you have created the group, you and your moderators of the group can invite people to the group yourself, send them a PM invitation and put a blurb with the link to your OH group in your signature line.  You will see some members have created a signature line with a brief blurb about their group and the link to join. This has worked successfully for many group owners to grow their group.

Starting and growing an OH Group through utilizing the tools of the group are easier and more efficient than through a post on the message board.  Check out the features and start inviting members you'd like to join your group.  By using your group tools, you'll have members in your group before you know it!

I want to see if there is enough interest in such a group prior to starting one.

You'll only know if you start it. I opened a forum here on OH several years ago - the Ontario Recipes forum - and it has great membership and contributors. To let people know about it at first I posted on my "home board" (Ontario) to let people know (not all the time, not everyday, not repeatedly so as to bug the crap outta people) and then simply put a link to the forum in my signature. Build it and they will come (if they're interested).

It seems that the OH admin staff have already given you instructions and resources.

As someone who is the leader of a private group, I'm happy to share the secret to success:   have people there who post on a regular basis (preferably daily) and who will be sticking around.

People who only pop in every few weeks will NOT make your group busy enough to make it worthwhile.

You may get initial enthusiasm, but it is a small percentage of people who come to OH as pre-ops and stay until they are vets.   There are a ton of groups in other forum, so there is a lot of choice - you have to offer something different.

Good luck!
