Peanut butter

So this morning I wanted to switch it up and decided to put a tbsp of light peanut butter in a shake made with chocolate milk, raspberries and ISO whey chocolate protein. Well about 5 mins later, I felt a little nauseous. Is an aversion to PB common?

P.S. I am 11 days out and my nutritionist never mentioned not adding different flavors to my shake - as long as I'm on liquids.

I was wondering about peanut butter too.....it is listed in my bariatric book from the doctor as an ingredient in their recommended shakes

Did you really mean chocolate milk?

Was there a lot of sugar in the milk?  That would be my concern.  I also could not have tolerated raspberries at 11 days out.

Sometimes light peanut butter has a little more sugar too.

Chocolate milk has a lot of sugar.

I was told peanut butter is considered a solid, not a liquid. I only recently started adding a small spoon of PB to an occasional shake. I haven't had any problems & I'm 4 weeks on Monday.

My guess would be either you can't handle PB yet, or the chocolate milk had too much sugar (or both!)

I also agree about the raspberries. The only fruit I can handle is a few slices of banana in a shake.

Oh wow I didn't even see the part about chocolate milk.  Chocolate milk and PB is way too many calories/sugar for a shake.

I should have probably mentioned that the chocolate milk was no sugar added... Same amount of sugar as regular 1% milk!

I am 5 years post op. The shake you describe would probably make me sick. Adding flavors is one thing - adding 1 TBS PB... Is another. I was cleared to eat small amount of PB app 6 months after my surgery. Small amount = tsp.

I don't really get it... Cause my chocolate milk was no sugar added which has the same amount of sugar as regular milk and my PB had only 1g of sugar!

I guess I might just have an intolerance to PB right now!
