I GUESS SOME VETS are PERFECT?! HELP DON'T HURT!
Thank You for your posts. I am with you 100% on approach. There are positive, negative, and mixed outcomes that work well to produce results. I personally don't mind it at all. In my profession (Human Services/Psychology)... as explained... I have sat across from some very interesting people, scary, devilish people. So harsh isn't my issue.
I wrote this post for a person who was in TEARS on how people exclaimed harsh and rude statements because of their fears with WLS etc. etc.
I also felt that tough love works, but to belittle and ripe someone apart isn't right... Especially since we all have gone or been down the same road prior to empowering ourselves.
Thanks so much for your post. Good Luck with your future endeavors on this Journey!
Thank you so much! I truly hope the young woman you refer to was not put off to the point of no return. Hopefully, she will stick around. I've only been a member for about 4 or 5 months, but I've seen that most members, especially the vets, DO have a plethora of useful information to share on here! Although we may not always get what we want, we may get what we need.
Yes, this. Well said, teacher :)

I think most people that post here, including vets, want to help, not hurt.
But I think we disagree on what helps and what hurts.
You might think it's helpful if someone says "It's OK that you cheated on your pre-op diet. Lots of people do. It won't hurt you. Just do better next time."
I think that might actually hurt, though. Because it's not necessarily true that it's OK or that it won't hurt you. I think it might be more helpful to tell you the truth about that.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
