Scared of not feeling like crap

I had a bad experience in 2008 with the lap band and had it removed a mth later, ended up at the Cleveland Clinic for 15 days. Since then I have gotten diabetes, arthritis, HBP and many other co-morbidities. I'm waiting on insurance approval for the RNY but I'm afraid of what I'm going to feel like, or what is going to happen when, after I have the surgery, I wake up and have no pain! I know this sounds strange but I've talked to my psych. about it and she assures me this is a normal fear. Had anyone felt this way??

I also sufer from spurious fears. I'm scared to death I might have won last night's Powerball. I can't even get myself to look. And what happens tomorrow, if I wake up in bed next to a supermodel?

I understand your fear. I think it is a healthy fear. I am afraid that if I eat something sweet that I used to eat that I might not get sick and that would "allow" me to have just one today and two tomorrow and three next week and so on. So have not and will not even test the waters. Sweets have always been my downfall. I just can not go there. Everyone has some kind of fear like this.

Good luck.

That is a very real fear. I don't have dumping unless I really overdo other with the sweets.  I can eat a couple of cookies or pieces of chocolate with any problems.  I was really sad when I realized I didn't have dumping. I was hoping that it would be another tool to keep me on plan.

Same thing here, I kept reading about people eating sugar and getting terribly ill. I had a moment of weakness over the holidays and ate a piece of lemon cream pie....and nothing happened. Did not feel sick or shaky. Nothing.

I know me. I will push the limit, I kind of wish that I would have eaten it and spent the next hour throwing up. Trying to keep the sugar demon at bay.
