I have been overweight most of my life, but I always considered myself to be healthy for the most part.
I entered a pretty bad cycle of depression around sept. 09. When I came out it around March I had gained
80 pounds, lost the ability to walk (didn't know being without thyroid meds would have such an impact!).
I was finally approved for insurance in June. My first appt. with my primary was like a slap in the face..
I had become diabetic, I now need to give myself insulin shots, my thyoid had basically shut down, high
blood pressure, etc... He suggested the Lapband surgery but when I met with the bariactric surgeon and
was told that the diabetes could be resolved with the RNY surgery, I decided that is what I needed to do!
