One year.

Aug 08, 2011

In four days I will be one year out from my RNY Gastric bypass. It's been one bumpy road but I've had it easier than most with only a few minor complications.  One year ago, I couldn't fall asleep because I was dreaming of being smaller and my journey to get there.  Now I find myself unable to sleep because I am overjoyed with the 250 lbs I have lost and the fact that I get to have my extra skin removed as my surgiversary present to myself.

I started out a few years ago weighing 435 llbs. I lost 125 on my own. My fiance had proposed to me before I even lost any  of that  and he has stuck by my side the entire time - my own personal cheerleader.  On August 13th 2010 I had my RNY surgery, changing my life forever.

I now weigh 185 lbs. My BMI was 62.4 at its highest and now I'm at 26.5.
I went from a size 5X to a Medium - 10/12
In a few weeks I will be having about 20-30lbs of skin removed (estimated by my plastic surgeon)

God  has been so wonderful to me - I have been given yet another chance at life and darnit, I get to live it this time.  I have a new thin, healthy body - a quality education that has allowed me to earn my associate of science degree, wonderful family and friends - we're moving into our own apartment soon - and the man I have standing by my side through all of this is so wonderful to me...there's nothing I would change about him.. except the fact that I want his last name and I want it now =)
