You have a PLASTIC SURGEON for a friend and he wont do your plastics...JERK!!!  hahahaha

So since you are a runner, I have a question for you.  So I want to start "running" regularly, it was fun to do that 5k.  How do I go about starting without killing myself again?  My freaking legs still hurt and I feel like I have knots in the back of my thighs!

I started by doing interval training (run/walk).  I would run for 4 minutes, then walk for one.  You can increase distance that way without killing your legs.  Now, I mostly run, but I'll still use intervals when I'm tired or during long runs (I find it difficult to drink and run at the same time, so i'll use a walk break to hydrate.)  The sore legs will get better with time.  My legs still hurt after a long run, but they recover more quickly.  Also, I can't live without my foam roller.  It hurts like hell, but definitely works out the knots and aids with recovery.  Nik****lly -- any other suggestions????

And yes, I have a Plastic Surgeon who won't do a thing for me . . . well, other than injections like botox, etc.  He says that he thinks of me as his sister and that he won't operate on family.  I tell him to get the hell over it . . . it's not like I'm asking him to do brain surgery, just lift my boobs.

That is what I figured your answer would be, it makes sense.  I have always dreamed of being a "runner", I have no idea why, they just seem like the cool / healthy crowd! lol

Oops, I must be tired this morning.  I forgot our other runners . . . Daisy, JB?  Anything to offer???  I am by no means an expert at the whole running thing!

Silly question, do you know why we get random *** on posts sometimes? I thought it was the site trying to "hide" potential inappropriate words.

i'm by no means an expert but I used the c25k app- its free and takes 8 weeks to complete- longer for me because I am more out of shape and took some extra days off.

I have done the c25k program before with success.  Now that I know I can actually run a whole 5k, its seems silly to me to do the program from the start.  BUT I also know that my hamstrings did NOT like me running a 5k, they are still really tight and sore!

I've heard some runners do sprints also- to build up speed and then alternate long and short runs.

i might start doing like the fastest 1 mile i can and measure the time to see if I can get faster.

my sister in law got me 1lb ankle weights for my birthday. I'm going to start walking with them tonight to see if it helps with speed. I got myself to a 44 minute 5k but really need to work on my breathing.  Next 5k is 6/17, but I'm thinking of signing up for one on 6/5 as well, just haven't decided if I want to drop the $40 on it yet.

44 is great- yoga can really help with breathing- not sure if your gym has it but if it is free, what can it hurt. I've noticed how calm and relaxed I am after class. It is therapeutic plus my muscles like it.

There is another 5k here on june 13th - husband says he will walk it while I jog- but it iss $25 a person.
