Reality Check
May 30, 2009
This week I have been feeling kind of discouraged, especially only losing 3lbs. But yesterday I had a reality check. I went to the gym yesterday morning (haven't been in a couple of weeks) and did my workout routine. I did the treadmill at 3.1 MPH and 2.0 incline for 21 mins for 1 mile then went to chest press 15 x4, shoulder press 15x4, leg press 10x4, abd weights. I belong to the Wellness Center at work which I have a workout sheet I complete each visit which I record my activity, blood pressure, weight, heart rate. I looked at my sheet from when I first started 5/10/08. During that time I could only do .50 -.67 of a mile at 2.6 MPH no incline for 15 mins. No weights at all. I looked at my progress and seen the difference post lap band surgery. My other reality check was also yesterday. I played a whole game of basketball against my 10 year old nephew (who is good and have heck of a 3 point shot). I played a whole 1 on 1 game with him. I could not do this 3 months ago. By the way, I won. I also got on the swing and showed my 5 year old how to swing without someone pushing you giving him his independence. Sometimes we are so busy worrying about the numbers on the scale we lose sight of the real reason we had weight loss surgery (at least my reason) which is to get healthy and have a better quality of life. I am glad I had surgery and I thank GOD for my reality check.
