FRUSTRATED!!!!

Oct 27, 2011

Hi OH,
Its been a long time since I visited the site at least 6 months cause all my messages have been archived. Its been almost 3 yrs since I had lapband(2/23/09) I am have been at a standstill for awhile. I have lost a total of 60lbs since surgery in which 20 of them I fo up and down with. I am one of the few ppl that is very sensitve to the adjustments which causes me a big problem cause although i need to have an adjustment to lose the weight i become very sick the highest Ievel of fill I've had is 7.5 and i became dehydrated because I couldnt hold anything down. They had to take out about 4 cc to allow me to hydrate then I was filled graduately. Im at 6.5 but no restriction. I've tried diets but of course not working. I'm frustrated I need to just have band removed. I refuse any permanent surgery like the sleeve or gb, my own personal reasons. I guess the fact I kept off as much as I did is a plus. Im not giving up but juist needed to vent.

I can feel the difference!!!

Oct 05, 2009

I recently returned to bedside nursing and I can really feel the difference the weight loss have made. I am not tired and worn out as I was before the surgery when I worked the floor 5 years ago. I actually have more energy and I stay moving. Before by the 7-8 hour my back was hurting, feet hurting and I was looking for a chair. God is so good to no only give me strength but the ability to have favor which gave me the opportunity to lose weight and be able to serve him totally: body, mind, and spirit. Be Blessed my OH Family.

Oh how time flies!!

Oct 02, 2009

It has been a while since I visited my family here on the OH!! Its amazing how time flies. It is football season and I have been extemely busy with the kids games both little league and high school as well as NFL. But I must give a little update. I have lost a total of 54 lbs (42 since surgery 2/23/09). I had a little setback last month because I believed my band was a little to tight at first but my boddy adjusted to it. I have changed departments within the last few weeks and returned back to bedside nursing. This will truly give me the additional exercise I need. I have not been able to get to the gym like I would like to but I am working on that at the moment. Other than that things are good, I actually got into an XL without busting it open (lol) so that has been my highlight of the week. I have been talking to my daughter (20 yrs old) about the lap-band surgery. I really believe she will benefit from it. At this point she is weighing more than me and I see the same problems that I had that she is heading for. I will continue to encourage her to eat right, exercise (which she is very active) and make good decisions. Keep us in prayer.

Back on the Road Again

Jul 15, 2009

Hi everyone,
I am back on  the road again. All of my test came back negative so it was not a blockage I was just full of it But I am back on track. I am at the gym, walking, etc. and eating a balanced meal. I tried the way the dietition told me to eat but I ended up in the hospital for 3 days (of my vacation). I now am learning my body and realize that my body need much more than just protein.Good Luck everyone will talk later. I must go to bed now.

Road Block

Jul 09, 2009

I am presently hospitalized for severe constipation for the past two weeks. I have tried everything from enemas to castor oil, nothing. My surgeon admitted me overnight for test to find out whats causing the blockage. Fortunately I'm still passing gas so that's a plus. Even that awful contrast for the CT Scan didn't move anything. But other than that everything else is going fine. I am progressing with weight loss. I losing fat and gaining muscle which is exactly what I want to do. I need to re-evaluate my diet because by me following the rule of eating my proteins first and having a high protein diet I am missing out on other essential nutrients that is causing me to suffer with this awful constipation.  I just found out that my CT scan was normal. No blockage, Thank God.

Reality Check

May 30, 2009

This week I have been feeling kind of discouraged, especially only losing 3lbs. But yesterday I had a reality check. I went to the gym yesterday morning (haven't been in a couple of weeks) and did my workout routine. I did the treadmill at 3.1 MPH and 2.0 incline for 21 mins for 1 mile then went to chest press 15 x4, shoulder press 15x4, leg press 10x4, abd weights. I belong to the Wellness Center at work which I have a workout sheet I complete each visit which I record my activity, blood pressure, weight, heart rate. I looked at my sheet from when I first started 5/10/08. During that time I could only do .50 -.67 of a mile at 2.6 MPH no incline for 15 mins. No weights at all. I looked at my progress and seen the difference post lap band surgery. My other reality check was also yesterday. I played a whole game of basketball against my 10 year old nephew (who is good and have heck of a 3 point shot). I played a whole 1 on 1 game with him. I could not do this 3 months ago. By the way, I won. I also got on the swing and showed my 5 year old how to swing without someone pushing you  giving him his independence. Sometimes we are so busy worrying about the numbers on the scale we lose sight of the real reason we had weight loss surgery (at least my reason) which is to get healthy and have a better quality of life. I am glad I had surgery and I thank GOD for my reality check.

Trying to stay on target

May 29, 2009

This have been a rough month for me. I went to the MD yesterday. I only lost 3 lbs, however I did gain .5lbs of muscle. the positive is that all of my weight loss have come from fat mass. I was hoping to lose more but in reality Im surprised I lost 3 lbs. I have not been on the correct diet because I am not eating 3 meals a day. Maybe 1-2 only. I have not been to the gym, I am embrassed and upset about that. It seems like everything is taking my time, away from myself. I have to find a way to make this work. I want to have lost at least 8 pounds at next months visit. I just needed to vent a little.
